Senior Offshore Structural Engineer

About the Job

• Can lead and be a part of the offshore structural design team on offshore feasibility, conceptual, basic engineering, FEED, detailed design projects for both Greenfield and Brownfield works.
• Perform offshore structural engineering activities and review activities carried out by Engineers, Designers and CAD Operators.
• Liaise with other departments, project managers, clients, vendors, subcontractors and third parties.
• Participate in inter-disciplines, project, client and vendor meetings.
• Perform all Inter-discipline check
• Prepare scope of work, man-hour and cost estimates for proposals.
• Groom young engineers and provide advice to peers in his field of expertise.
• Senior / Lead Engineer who is a technical specialist has the added responsibility to act in a consultancy role, providing advice and carrying out specialized engineering tasks.
• As a Lead Engineer on project, he is also responsible for the following:
• Advise the Department Manager the manpower and skill levels required to ensure smooth execution of the project.
• Assign work to the team appropriately.
• Conduct meetings at regular intervals with team members to review progress and share the lesson learnt & typical issues.
• Overall responsible for the man-hour & schedule monitoring and control and quality of the work produced.
• Organize and maintain project technical filing and archiving.
• Primary involvement in a typical project includes:
• Prepare structural design basis, structural design specifications, construction and installation work procedures and cost estimation.
• Review and/or perform global in-service analyses (in-place, dynamic, fatigue, seismic, pushover etc.)
• Review and/or perform pre-service analyses (loadout, transportation, launching, floatation & upending, lifting, on-bottom stability, pile stick-up and drivability, etc.)
• Review and/or perform local analyses and design of offshore platform appurtenances and details.
• Review and/or prepare weight control, material take-off and bill of material reports.
• Provide engineering inputs, review and approve 2-D drawings and/or 3-D models prepared by the drafting teams.

About You

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil / Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in steel structures design in Oil & Gas, Refineries, Petrochemical, Chemical and related industries. Experience should cover at least eight (8) years of structural engineering analysis/ design on offshore platforms with Engineering Consultant or EPC/ EPCM Contractor.
• Proven working experience as Lead Engineer for offshore Brownfield projects. Experience in leading Greenfield projects is an advantage.
• Highly motivated and strong leadership quality.
• Conversant with international codes and standards – API, AISC, ISO, DNVGL, etc.
• Competent user of structural analyses software – SACS, USFOS, GRLWEAP and ANSYS. ABAQUS / NX Nastran or PLAXIS software experience is an advantage.
